I was never interested in Christian saints, but out of boredom, have read a book on their selected lifes. And then i have found an insider’s insight. When reading lifedoings of Nikolaos of Myra (more widely know by his nickname “Wonderworker”), a very popular saint in Russia, apart from his miracles with dropping golden coins to rich that have gone broke, i have found the following passage:
In short, at the First Council of Nikea, Nikolaos have punched Arius in face, and for this he was cast off the bishop-status, but after they have sleeped, eaten and talked to each other, the bishops decided to restore the miracle-doer in status, and make Arius the heretic.
Before reading this, i was interested in the Arian heresy (as i thought that there is link between aryans and this Arius) and know where some lie is contained within the above piece of information. Do you know?
